Install your eSIM on iPhone
A short, step-by-step guide. Works on iPhone XS or newer with iOS 12.1 or later.
Is your iPhone compatible?
Most iPhones from XS (2018) onward support eSIM. If you're unsure, run a quick check before installing.
Install in 6 steps
Connect to stable Wi-Fi before you start.
- 01
Open Settings
On your iPhone, open the Settings app.
- 02
Go to Mobile Data
Tap Mobile Data (it may be called Cellular in some regions).
- 03
Tap Add eSIM
Choose "Add eSIM", then select "Use QR Code".
- 04
Scan your QR code
Point the camera at the QR we sent by email. No QR? Open your order confirmation or your account dashboard.
- 05
Label and configure the line
Name the line (e.g. "Travel"). Set it as your line for Mobile Data and turn on Data Roaming β required for eSIMs abroad.
- 06
Activate on arrival
When you land, the eSIM connects automatically. The plan's validity starts the first time it attaches to a network.
Prefer to install manually?
Instead of scanning, tap "Enter Details Manually" and paste the SM-DP+ address and activation code from your confirmation email.
Troubleshooting
If something doesn't work, start here.
My iPhone says "Unable to Add Cellular Plan"
Check your Wi-Fi connection and make sure the QR code hasn't been used. A QR can only be installed once β if you've already added it, retrieve the SM-DP+ address from your order and re-add the eSIM manually.
I have no signal after installing
Open Settings β Mobile Data β [VamosData line] and make sure Data Roaming is on and the line is selected for Mobile Data. For some destinations you may need an APN β see our country guides.
Can I scan the QR from another phone's screen?
Yes. Display the QR on a second device or print it. Just make sure the contrast is sharp and the code fits inside the camera frame.
When does the eSIM activate?
Most plans start when the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination β not when you install it. Validity counts from that moment.
Can I remove the eSIM and reinstall it later?
No. Once removed, an eSIM can't be reinstalled. Only remove it after your trip or when the plan has fully expired.
